Grouper
& thiof

Thiof is the emblematic fish of the Senegalese coast. A robust rocky-bottom species caught between 20 and 200 metres using selective longlines and gillnets. We distinguish three subspecies, each with its own size grades.

White fish from coastal waters and brackish estuaries, found between 15 and 300 metres on muddy and sandy bottoms. Present from the eastern Atlantic to the Mediterranean. It offers the widest range of cuts.
